2. Compare measurements, not carat weight alone
Carat is a measure of weight. Record the exact length, width, and depth because stones of the same carat weight can present differently face-up.
3. Review the exact stone in motion
Ask for neutral-light video when possible. Look at brightness, contrast, outline, and any persistent dark areas as the stone moves. A single highly edited photograph cannot show the complete visual behavior of a diamond.
4. Read the grading document
